Lesson Title
"Role of Nutrition in Treating Cancer"
Lesson Overview
This lesson will give students a basic introduction to cancer. It will also allow students to investigate a few of the causes and ways to prevent certain cancers. Sometimes the introduction of the topic causes a lot of worry and concern - due to the fact that so many students will know someone that currently has cancer or has died of cancer.
Goals and Objectives
1. Students will learn about the hallmarks of cancer. 2. Students will have opportunity to explore some of the causes and ways to prevent certain cancers. 3. Create a forum in which students can share information and stories in a seminar format.
Common Misconceptions
I have had students in the past explain on tests that you "catch" cancer.....I'm not sure if they think that you can catch it like a cold - or that they are still unsure of what cancer actually is.
