Lesson Overview Causes of Cancer.
Goals and Objectives
Target population: High School students.
Goal: Identify the causes of cancer.
By the end of this lesson the student will be able to; Objective 1. List three causes of cancer that may be affected by one's lifestyle. Objective 2. State the percentage of cancer mutations that are inherited. Objective 3. State how the incidence of lung cancer in women parallels to that of men. Objective 4. List the three major categories of gene types. Objective 5. Report on diet factors that may lead to cancer. Objective 6. Define Alflotxin and how it can lead to cancer. Objective 7. State how many women will have an HPV infection during their lifetime. Objective 8. Describe how sunlight afects skin cancers.
Common Misconceptions
Men are more likely to develop cancer from smoking than women.
